Hardy Votes to Fully Fund A Strengthened Military

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Cresent Hardy (R-NV) today released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2017 by a vote of 282-138:

"We ought to take a page from Ronald Reagan's book and seek peace through strength. As the world becomes increasingly dangerous, we know that a strong U.S. military can deter bad actors across the globe. I believe Congress's top priority is to make sure our troops are the best-equipped and most well trained warfighters in the world. I voted for this bill because I believe it meets those obligations and gives Nevada's military installations resources to fulfill their missions in the war against ISIS."

The Department of Defense Appropriations Act Congress passed today does the following:

· Gives our troops a well-deserved two percent pay raise
· Provides funding for an additional 28,715 active troops and 25,000 reserves
· Strengthens Department of Defense Health Care programs
· Supports the missions of our service members at Nellis, Creech, and Hawthorne.
· Prevents terrorists being detained at Guantanamo Bay from being re-located to the United States
